Primary Teeth

Maintaining the health of a child’s primary teeth is extremely important. Dr. Assil explains when cavities are neglected; problems often arise that impact the emerging permanent teeth. The role of primary teeth is several, including:
  1. Correct chewing
  2. Making space for permanent teeth
  3. Encouraging jaw bones and muscles to develop normally
The development of speech and appearance is also affected by baby teeth.  Front teeth traditionally fall out about age six or seven, but the back teeth, known as cuspids and molars, will remain with the child until he or she is ten to thirteen.
